Alessio Lanzi was born in Genoa on 25 August 1949, and he graduated at the University of Milan.
He did practice as criminal lawyer for more than 40 years, in some of the most high profile cases before the national Jurisdiction. In 2018-2023 he served as member of the Judicial Supreme Council. Starting from 2023, he has been appointed by the Parliament to the Presidential Committee of the Fiscal Justice.
Since 1996 he has been Professor of Business Criminal Law in the Business Studies Faculty first of Milan University, and, since 1998, of Milan Bicocca University. He had previously (from 1980 onwards) been an Associate Professor and then Professor of Criminal Law in the Law Faculty of Parma University. Since 1999 until 2014 he has also been Professor of Criminal Law at the Academy of the Guardia di Finanza (the Italian law enforcement agency, specialized in tax and custom offences) in Bergamo.
Since 1998 he has been Editor-in-chief of “L’Indice Penale”, an academic criminal law review founded by Pietro Nuvolone and now published by DIKE.
He is also Joint Editor of the business criminal law quarterly “Rivista trimestrale di diritto penale dell’economia”, and sits on the expert advisory committees of the Italian review of European public law “Rivista italiana di diritto pubblico comunitario” and the “Rivista IUS17 – Studi e materiali di diritto penale” [Criminal Law Studies and Source Materials].
His published writings include monographs on the criminal law protecting credit (“La tutela penale del credito”), constitutional freedoms and justificatory rights under Criminal Code Art. 51 (“La scriminante dell’art. 51 c.p. e le libertà costituzionali”), new taxation offences, especially in connection with issues of corporate criminal liability (“I nuovi reati tributari – Con particolare riferimento alle tematiche del diritto penale d’impresa”, with G.Bersani), the use of case-law in criminal justice (“<> in diritto penale”, with C.M. Pricolo), a textbook on Business Criminal Law (“Istituzioni di diritto penale dell’economia”, with S. Putinati), a book of readings in tax law (“Lezioni di diritto penale tributario”), another on tax offences (“L’illecito tributario”, with P. Aldrovandi) and, in 2011, a textbook on Tax and fiscal Criminal Law (“Manuale di diritto penale tributario”, with P. Aldovrandi), as well as a great number of papers and articles on criminal law matters, and in particular on issues in business criminal law).
He is joint editor of a criminal law book series of the Dike Giuridica publisher called “Temi ed attualità penalistiche”, and he was joint editor and author of a legal commentary on tax law and procedure “Diritto e procedura penale tributaria” (CEDAM, 1989 and 2001), and on new forms of corporate criminal liability “I nuovi reati societari” and “I reati societari” (CEDAM, 2002 and 2007).
Gian Paolo del Sasso was born in Milan on 10 April 1972 and was called to the Milan bar in 1999.
He maturated experience as Outside Lecturer in Business Criminal Law at the Business Studies Faculty of Milan-Bicocca University. Here he has been commissioned to give a regular course on Corporate Liability since 2002, supplementing the Faculty’s teaching on Business Criminal Law.
He serves on the editorial committee of “L’Indice penale”, an academic criminal law review published by DIKE and edited by Prof. Alessio Lanzi.
He has written many articles on aspects of the criminal law, and was the joint author of the legal commentary on tax law and procedure “Diritto e procedura penale tributaria” (CEDAM, 2001), and on new forms of corporate criminal liability “I nuovi reati societari” (CEDAM, 2002).
Gian Paolo has been a member of the governing body of the Milan Criminal Bar Association, and he sits in various leading Italian and multinational companies’ Supervisory Panels required under the Italian Corporate Liability Act (Legislative Order 231/01).
Luca Beltrami was born in Milan on 1 September 1972 and is a member of the Milan bar.
He is an Outside Lecturer in Business Criminal Law at the Business Studies Faculty of Milan-Bicocca University.
Here he has been commissioned to give a regular course on Delegation of Duties since 2007, supplementing the Faculty’s teaching on Business Criminal Law.
He serves on the editorial committee of “L’Indice penale”, an academic criminal law review published by DIKE EDITORE and edited by Prof. Alessio Lanzi.
He has published a number of writings on various aspects of the criminal law and is a joint author of an annotated edition of the Italian Criminal Code with case-law notes (“Codice Penale annotato con la giurisprudenza”), and of the brief commentary on that Code (“Commentario breve al Codice Penale”) .
He is member of Surveillance Body ex d.lgs. 231/2001.
Massimiliano Lanzi graduated in Law at the Milan University in 2009.
He has been working with the firm since October 2009 and he was admitted to the Milan Bar in 2012.
Massimiliano in 2018 obtained the National Scientific Qualification as Associate Professor in Criminal Law, and he is currently serving as Researcher in Criminal Law at the LUM – Giuseppe Degennaro University in Casamassima (Bari), where he teaches White Collar and Business Criminal Law (Diritto penale dell’economia and Diritto penale commerciale).
In 2015 Massimiliano obtained a PhD in Criminal law at the University of Parma. As for his doctoral research he spent several periods abroad: in 2012 at the Law Faculty of the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and in 2014 at the Max-Planck-Institut für ausländisches und internationales Strafrecht, in Freiburg, Germany.
From 2015 to 2020 he was a lecturer of Criminal Law at the University of Parma, teaching “Juvanile Criminal Justice” and “Comparative Criminal Law”.
In 2020-2022 he run a post-Doc research project at the University of Parma, investigating Artificial Intelligence and Criminal Law.
Massimiliano is author of more than 40 publications, investigating both the ground principles of the Criminal Law (such as with the books “Error Iuris e sistema penale”, published in 2018, and “Self-driving cars e responsabilità penale”, published in 2023) and the White Collar and business-related criminal law area. He mainly focused, among the other matters, on Tax Offences, Corporate Fraud, Money-laundering and Criminal Seizing.
Jessica Bertolina was born in Sondrio on 22 February 1985.
She graduated in Law from Milan University in June 2009, specializing in criminal law: her final thesis was on the collective responsibility of Boards of Directors and Boards of Auditors in joint-stock companies (“La responsabilità penale collegiale degli amministratori e sindaci di società”).
Jessica has been with the firm since October 2009 and she was admitted to the Milan Bar in 2013.
In 2013 she obtained the International Legal English Certificate (ILEC) at the Cambridge Institute of Milan.
She attended “the third biennial course of high specialist training 2015-2016 at the national school of specialist training of the criminal lawyer (III Corso biennale di Alta Formazione Specialistica 2015-2016” presso “la Scuola Nazionale di Formazione Specialistica dell’Avvocato penalista”), organised by the union of Italian penal chambers (Unione delle Camere penali Italiane). She obtained the title of “Specialist in criminal law”, on 25th March 2017.
She attended the course “crime liability of collective entities ex 231/2001, at the University of Milano, in 2016/2017.
Since June 2019, she has been a member of the Jail Sorveillance Committee of the Milan Bar Association.
Angelo Giuliani was born in Foggia on 28th October 1988. He graduated in Law from Milan Bocconi University in October 2012, specializing in criminal procedure: his final thesis was on the seizure of printed matter (“ funzioni preventive e probatorie del sequestro degli stampati”.
He has been with the firm since January 2013 and he was admitted to the Milan Bar in 2018.
He serves on the editorial committee of “L’Indice penale”, an academic criminal law review published by DIKE EDITORE and edited by Prof. Alessio Lanzi.
He has published commentary on the corporate criminal code (“Codice Penale d’Impresa”), edited by DIKE EDITORE.
Chiara Ghezzi was born in Milan on July 19th, 1995.
In October 2020 she graduated with honours in Law at the University of Milan, with a final thesis on criminal tax law.
Chiara has been working with the firm since January 2021 and she was admitted to the Milan Bar in January 2024.
She has attended a post-grad course on criminal law at the University of Milan, titled “White-collar crimes and prevention measures”.
